Ramble time!
Gahh! I’ve neglected my tumblr :(
Update! Semester started. Not one of my easiest semesters, but probably the most interesting mix of courses. Relationship development, food science processes, consumer sociology, and international nutrition. 2 food, 2 arts. International nutrition by far would be my most inspiring course I’ve taken. Yes, we review many of our basic nutrition needs since I’ve learned them in many of my courses, but I’ve never learned about how different the basic nutrition needs are for severely malnourished children. Their needs are so different from ours and yet ignorant people apply our North American standards and expect developing countries to follow us.
Hear this, in October 2001, the United States sent parcels of food worth $27 million to Afghanistan that wasn’t eaten at all by the locals. Why? The food included peanut butter and jam which the locals have never eaten and all the packaging was in English. What a waste of money and effort. Just shows how important understanding what the staple food of a culture really is.
Anyways! Enough of school rambling.
New years has come and gone! This year we didn’t go clubbing. Just chilled at a friend’s place and played Xbox kinect (?) all night in groups. It was a lot of fun :) A very nice and relaxing way to welcome 2012.
Colin and I have definitely deepened our relationship. It feels so nice the way everything is falling in place :)
Yesterday he picked me up from the skytrain after school and when I opened the car door, there was a rose and my fav Cosmo magazine sitting on my seat. Such a lovely surprise! THEN! Went back to his place and was expecting marinara shrimp spaghetti (since I requested it the night before) and found lobster tails!! He spent so much on dinner last night when it was suppose to be a cheap dinner since we are going to a fancy restaurant Sunday :P
Had such a wonderful night. I’m so blessed <3
